Effective house cleaning hygiene tips

Infection protection for hotels and other lodging businesses

Lodging businesses understand that one infected guest can lead to many and an outbreak can have a major impact on their business.

If businesses don't focus on their risk reduction process they may lose business, lower their brand value, reduce workforce efficiency and in sever cases, lose lives.

To combat infections, good personal and environmental hygiene must be part of every organisations hygiene programme.

Hand washing recommendations

Increased hand washing frequency is essential to prevent transmission of disease

Always wash hands thoroughly after touching potentially contaminated surfaces, removing gloves, if in contact with secretions from the mouth, nose or eyes (eg after sneezing or coughing), after a break or visit to the toilet, and when moving to another activity.

Use a mild hand disinfectant soap such as Soft Care Sensisept H34. Where water availability or work conditions do not allow for increased or frequent hand wash use Soft Care Med H5 for regular hand disinfection.

Good Environmental Hygiene

Diversey realises that their lodging customers must clean a range of surfaces constructed of many different materials. That's why Diversey provides Oxivir, a detergent disinfectant that is suitable for use on hard and soft furnishings (although it is not suitable for surfaces particularly sensitive to acidic substances). It's woolsafe approval means it will not bleach fabrics.

Cleaning daily with a one step product like Oxivir not only maintains a high level of hygiene, but can save time and offer a more sustainable solution than two step cleaning and disinfecting. During the daily cleaning special attention should be given to the surfaces that are frequently touched such as telephones, remote controls and door handles as these hold a high risk of contamination.
