This past weekend I had the honour to attend the 45th European Hotel Managers Association General Meeting in Marbella, Spain. More than 250 delegates from over 15 countries gathered in the gorgeous Melia Don Pepe Hotel to discuss how to grasp the opportunities that Smart Data offers to the Luxury Hospitality industry.

I took the opportunity to ask many of these smart hotel managers one difficult question: what is the most important benefit of capturing data from your hotels operations? The answer was consistently clear and straight. Keep reading if you want to know the answer.

With food safety incidences threatening hotels’ brand equity, rising costs of critical resources as water and energy, and employee turnover rates at all time highs, EHMA was very smart to organize an Education Day to learn about the latest innovations contributing to develop a more efficient luxury hospitality sector.

I had the chance to represent Diversey and share our experience in data capture from the cleaning and hygiene operations to enhance guests’ satisfaction. Based on our experience with thousands of hotels around the world, we have Housekeeping, Food Service, Laundry and even employee training solutions in our portfolio of Internet of CleanTM applications to help hotels retain their guests’ loyalty and be more efficient.

The brilliant visionary, futurologist presenter before me painted a future in which Augmented Reality will be a powerful way to explore your next hotel before getting there… and I shared with the audience, Diversey’s Augmented Reality app that allows hardware training, troubleshooting and maintenance with the click of a thumb – now.

He also spoke about robots becoming concierges, housekeeping staff and even waiters… and I explained to the audience how our 600 floor cleaning robots are already making many properties around the world shine.

He impressed the audience with a perfect description about the expectations of guests for immediate reaction to their needs, with Amazon Dash-like buttons. I shared how our IntelliCare hand soap dispensers can track hand wash compliance among food service staff, and even re-order soap when they’re running low.

In summary, the luxury hotel industry is very smart in looking for data-driven innovations that help them achieve their most important benefit: keep guests satisfied, and have them coming back.

And at Diversey, we have many applications that are ready to help them achieve that goal immediately.

Congratulations to Hans Koch, Manuel Otero and the rest of the organizing committee for a great event and thank you for your warm invitation to be part of it.
